Welcome to Stephen's MUI Help Zone

Last updated: 22-July-1996.

This page's web-counter says that you are visitor number since April 8th, 1996.

If you are looking for other information about the Amiga, a great place to start is at the: Amiga Web Directory.

Introduction

This is not an official MUI web site. I found that I needed a way of accessing additional programming information on MUI so I built these pages. Feel free to link to this. If you are doing something with MUI and you have it available by HTTP send me the URL and I'll add a link here.

The MUI Mailing List

This is the primary means of obtaining help with MUI problems. Send your postings to:

mui@sunsite.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE

To subscribe or unsubscribe I think you use the address:

mui-request@sunsite.Informatik.RWTH-Aachen.DE

The MUI mailing list is archived here. Note that this archive does seem to miss a lot of messages, that's one of the reasons I set up some of these pages.

To unsubscribe send an empty message to mui-request@sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de with the word unsubscribe in the subject.

Welcome to the MUI mailing list on SunSITE CEUR!

Send your contributions to this list to

mui@sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

If you have administrative requests, like subscribing, unsubscribing, please send them to

mui-request@sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

Send a 'help' in the subject line in order to get some help messages. If you have problems, please contact me at

ruebe@sunsite.informatik.rwth-aachen.de

The MUI software

Aminet is the first place to look for the MUI software. There are two key archives, one for users and one for developers. Of course if you are a developer you will need both. Other MUI-related files can now be found on Aminet here.

Topics by MUI class

The MUI Autodocs

This section will contain HTML versions of the MUI Autodocs. These are prepared by an ARexx program I wrote. Right now they just do a very simple transformation, in the future I hope to fancy this up a bit.

Making an application run on its own screen

From: mwm@contessa.phone.net (Mike Meyer)
Date: Wed, 22 Nov 95 13:33:42 PST

Well, in spite of the fact that MUI 3.1 loudly proclaims that it's
backwards compatable with MUI 2.x, it manages to lose all your
configuration information (great, just great). Since one of the most
common questions on the list for a while was "How do I make Amiga
Mosaic run on it's own screen", here's the pre-emptive counterstrike
- uh - make that instructions for doing this with MUI 3.1 (which
method has also changed drastically). Since this is from the Amiga
Mosaic FAQ, any feedback is appreciated.

        Thanx,

I have started on a public textfield class. You may take a look at it. It
is on wade1.ab.umd.edu/textfield/. It is alpha and still requires work.

I have thought of this, too. Another thought I had is a FAQ,
especially for programmers.

If people are willing to send me questions (and, if possible, answers)
they would like to see in a FAQ, I'll compile it. Anything is ok -
ranging from questions new programmers might face to complicated
problems requiring involved answers. I'll acknowledge all
contributors, and do my best to verify answers are true.

To make it easier for me, please use a subject like "MUI FAQ" when
mailing to me.

   Hi all,

If someone want to test my new autodoc reader,
he can get it on ftp://bibliut.unice.fr/amiga/mui/ADocReader0.1.lha

It's based on Martin's Reader (on aminet), but i added things
like copy to clipboard, and it make and use a reference file
with autodocs entries, include typedef, includes ... so you
can go to the file where a word is defined simply by double
clicking it.

I'd like to have some comments about it !

thanks,

Gilles MASSON
